ChatGNB is a generative artificial intelligence (AI) platform exclusively for Government of New Brunswick employees. This platform is a tool for brainstorming, innovation, communication, and learning. As we begin our journey of discovering and integrating generative AI, it's vital to use this technology responsibly and ethically.
- Seek leadership approval: Before using ChatGNB, ensure that department leaders are aware and approve of its use.
- Understand the risks: Be aware that generative AI poses risks related to privacy, security, bias, misinformation, and intellectual property. Stay vigilant about these risks.
- Protect privacy: Don't provide, use or generate personal or identifying information when interacting with AI. Adhere to the privacy statement to protect individual privacy and comply with privacy legislation.
- Recognize the limitations: AI models are trained on large amounts of source data. Be aware that any information they generate is subject to the limitations of the data set.
- Review and verify: Ensure that subject matter experts review and edit all generated information for bias, accuracy, ethical considerations, and integrity.
- Apply critical thinking: AI can provide believable but incorrect responses. Verify all AI generated output against reliable sources.
- Don't lose the human touch: AI lacks empathy and understanding of complex human emotions and situations. It is not a replacement for human involvement, intelligence, and creativity.
- Stay informed: Generative AI is rapidly evolving and it's everyone's responsibility to make sure these tools are being used safely.
